Random thoughts
I just have to say that I’m still not sure what I want this blog to be. Originally, it was supposed to be a very “professional” blog that I could show to future employers or graduate schools, but now I feel like that was the wrong way to go. Lately, I’ve been finding that goal restrictive (and fake).
So, right now, I’m simply trying to have fun with it, and experiment with my writing on film. Ideally, I want to blend what I’ve learned about film criticism (which is that being objective, and taking every aspect of a film apart, is the goal) with my own opinions, and personality. But, I haven’t quite figured out how to do that yet, since it turns out that being objective and subjective at the same time is hard. Shocking, I know.
I might be over-thinking it, but ever since I started learning about writing theory and tutoring at my school’s writing center, I can’t help but question what I do, and want to do, and come up with new ideas. My professor is constantly asking us questions, and asking us to do the same, so now it’s becoming a habit.
Anyway, expect more varied posts in the future, since I’m still trying to figure out what the hell I want to say to the world.
(Also, I’m working on a review of Martha Marcy May Marlene (2011) which I hope I can finish by tomorrow. I’m mad at myself for not finishing it earlier, but hey. That’s college life.)
